The International Education College organized a mountain climbing activity at Mao Jiashan for Chinese and foreign students.

Golden autumn in October brings fresh and clear weather. To enrich international students’ after-school cultural life and strengthen exchanges and friendship between Chinese and international teachers and students, Chi Yatian and Wang Haoyuan, counselors from the School of International Education, organized international and Chinese students to take part in a hiking activity at Maojia Mountain on October 7.

That morning, students assembled at an intersection near the subway station. Following a headcount conducted by the counselor, Shang Haiwei, Assistant Dean of the School of International Education, delivered brief remarks on mountain hiking safety and precautions. The group then proceeded to Maojia Mountain on foot. Upon reaching the parking lot at the foot of the mountain, faculty and students took a group photo, freezing the cheerful youthful moments in frame.

Then the hike began. Everyone was encouraged to hike according to their physical strength. Energetic students moved forward and cheered for one another, while tired ones slowed down to enjoy the autumn mountain views. Most students reached the summit, where they took photos to record the wonderful scenery of city and nature. After a 30-minute break on the top, the group went down the mountain in order. Back at the parking lot, the two teachers counted the students again. After confirming all were present, they arranged for students to return to their dormitories.

The well-organized and safe hiking event allowed Chinese and international students to get close to nature and exercise amid busy studies. It also served as a platform for them to know each other better and build friendships. Students supported one another during the climb and grew closer through communication, feeling the warmth of the school community. The School of International Education will continue to hold various cultural activities to enrich international students’ study and life in China.
